What is Device Enrollment?

Device enrollment registers your phone, tablet, or laptop with the school's Mobile Device Management (MDM) system. This lets IT ensure that school data is kept secure on your device. It does not give IT access to your personal photos, messages, or private apps.
Before you start: Make sure your device is connected to Wi-Fi and that you have at least 30–40% battery. The process takes about 10 minutes.

iPhone or iPad

1

Open the Enrollment Link

On your iPhone or iPad, open Safari (the default Apple browser) and visit the device enrollment page.

Open mdm.onesms.org
2

Sign in with Your School Account

Enter your school Microsoft 365 email and password. Complete MFA if prompted.

3

Download the Management Profile

The page will prompt you to download a configuration profile. Tap Allow when asked to download the profile. A message will say "Profile Downloaded."

4

Install the Profile in Settings

Go to your iPhone/iPad Settings app. At the top, you will see a banner that says "Profile Downloaded" — tap it. Then tap Install in the top-right corner and follow the prompts. You may be asked to enter your device passcode.

Tip: If you don't see the banner, go to Settings → General → VPN & Device Management and look for the profile there.
5

Install the Company Portal App

After the profile installs, you'll be directed to download the Microsoft Intune Company Portal app from the App Store. Install it and sign in with your school account. Follow the on-screen prompts to finish enrollment.

6

Done!

Once enrollment is complete, the Company Portal app will show your device as compliant. You can now access school apps and resources.

You only need to do this once per device.

Android Phone or Tablet

1

Install the Company Portal App

Open the Google Play Store, search for "Intune Company Portal", and install it. The developer should say "Microsoft Corporation."

2

Open Company Portal and Sign In

Open the app and sign in with your school Microsoft 365 email and password. Complete MFA if prompted.

3

Begin Device Setup

Tap "Set up your device" or "Enroll device". Read through the information screens and tap Continue or Next to proceed.

Note: You may be asked to allow permissions such as notifications and device management. Tap Allow to continue.
4

Activate Device Administrator

The app will ask you to activate Device Administrator for Company Portal. Tap Activate. This allows the school to remotely wipe your device if it's ever lost or stolen — it does not give access to personal data.

5

Enrollment Complete

The app will confirm that your device is now enrolled. It may take a few minutes to sync. Once done, your device status will show as compliant.

You can now access school apps and resources on your Android device.

Windows Laptop or Desktop

1

Open Windows Settings

Click the Start Menu (Windows icon), then click the Settings gear icon (or press Windows + I).

2

Go to Accounts → Access Work or School

In Settings, click Accounts, then click "Access work or school" in the left sidebar. Click Connect.

3

Sign In with Your School Account

Enter your school Microsoft 365 email address and click Next. Enter your password and complete MFA if prompted.

4

Follow the Setup Prompts

Windows will connect to the school's management system. Follow any on-screen instructions. Your device may install some required apps or settings automatically.

Tip: This process works best on a school-issued or personally-owned Windows 10/11 device.
5

Restart if Prompted

You may be asked to restart your computer to complete enrollment. Save all your open work first, then restart.

After restarting, your device is enrolled and you can access all school resources.

Common Questions

Will IT be able to see my personal photos or messages?

No. The school's MDM system can only manage school-related apps and data. It cannot access your personal photos, messages, emails, social media, or any personal apps. Privacy is respected at all times.

What can IT do to my enrolled device?

IT can push school apps, enforce security policies (like requiring a screen lock), and — only if a device is reported lost or stolen — perform a remote wipe to protect school data. This is done only with your knowledge and approval (except in cases of theft).

Do I need to re-enroll if I get a new phone?

Yes. Device enrollment is tied to a specific device. If you get a new phone or tablet, you will need to enroll it again by following the steps above. Contact IT if you need help unenrolling your old device.

The enrollment is stuck or showing an error — what do I do?

Try closing the app and starting again. Make sure your device has a stable internet connection. If the problem continues, contact IT at ardc_support@onesms.org and include a description or screenshot of the error.
